Hyderabad is the capital and largest city of the southern Indian state of Telangana. Occupying 650 square kilometres (250 sq mi) along the banks of the Musi River, it has a population of 6.8 million and a metropolitan population of 7.75 million, making it the fourth most populous city and sixth most populous urban agglomeration in India. At an average altitude of 542 metres (1,778 ft), much of Hyderabad is situated on hilly terrain around artificial lakes, including Hussain Sagar—predating the city’s founding—north of the city centre.

Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) is a fully automated rapid transit system, currently under construction, for the city of Hyderabad, India. HMR project has been selected as one of the top 100 strategic global infrastructure projects to be showcased at the forthcoming Global Infrastructure Leadership Forum being held in New York during February–March, 2013. The HMR project is considered to be the world’s largest project under public-private partnership, with investments of over Rs 17,000 Crore.

Hyderabad International Airport, is an international airport serving the metropolis of Hyderabad located at Shamshabad, about 22 km (14 mi) south of Hyderabad.

The airport features as the top among Indian airports in the ranking of world airports for the year 2013 by Skytrax. It serves as a hub for Spice Jet, Lufthansa Cargo and Blue Dart Aviation and as a focus city for Air India, Jet Airways, and JetLite.

Hussain Sagar

hussain sagarHussain Sagar is a lake in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, built by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in 1562, during the rule of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah. It is spread across an area of 5.7 square kilometers and is fed by River Musi. A large monolithic statue of the Gautam Buddha, erected in 1992, stands on a pedestal in the middle of the lake. Birla Mandir

Birla Mandir is a Hindu temple, built on a 280 feet (85 m) high hillock called Naubath Pahad on a 13 acres (53,000 m2) plot. The construction took 10 years and was consecrated in 1976 by Swami Ranganathananda of Ramakrishna Mission. The temple was constructed by Birla Foundation, which has also constructed several similar temples across India, all of which are known as Birla Mandir.
